Fire Station Trip!

Last Thursday was our first "Super Thursday" field trip! We went to the fire station to see some REAL Community Helpers! The trip was very educational and very hands-on. It started out a little slow with a presentation in the briefing room, but once we were back in the garage, things really started moving.
The presentation was a little long and difficult to understand, but the FBC-LC students were SO respectful and great listeners!

Some highlights:
* Riding around the block in the Fire Truck
* Sliding down the pole
* Spraying the water hose
* Wearing the breathing apparatus
* Learning about Stop, Drop, and Roll
* Practicing how to help lift a injured friend
* So much more! Be sure to ask your kids about it, if you haven't already!

After the fire station, we took the students over to McDonalds for a special lunch! By the smiles on their faces, I think they enjoyed it! From there, we took them to a local park to run off some energy (the sugar from the ice cream cones set in immediately!) before heading back to the Learning Center.

Back at the church, we had our school-wide, weekly chapel service. Then, our class and Mrs. Cooper's class spent the afternoon doing some art and buddy reading. It was such a fun day! I'm sure our next Super Thursday will be just as great. I'll let you know where we're going as soon as it's finalized!

**Note: I have a collection of pictures from this day that I didn't post here (way too many!). If you're interested in any of these or other ones of your student, let me know and I'll e-mail them to you!**
