Super Thursday!

We had our first Thursday today and it was a success! At 8:30, all of the students and teachers walked up the hill to the LaFite Apartments. K-2 spent the morning at Dr. and Mrs. Smith's apartment learning about mammals, the short 'a' sound, finishing our "Math All Around Us" quilts, and improving our spelling! During our morning snack break, a group of us walked up to the water tower at the top of the hill. (Eli was too hot and tired, so he stayed back with Mrs. Smith working on his iPad!) The kids were amazed at how tall it was and we had another great discussion about living and non-living things!

After we ate lunch, we walked back down to school and had recess. When we were all hot, sweaty, and tired, we came in to cool off and then had our very first Chapel service! The high school students led us in worship, the K-2 class got to participate in a puzzle race, and then Mr. Cooper presented us with a quick talk about how God made each and every one of us special and for a purpose! After chapel, our class joined with Mrs. Cooper's class for Art and story time to finish out the day. It was tough not having a familiar schedule today, but the kids were troopers and made it go smoothly!

I sent home Thursday Folders tonight. To give some structure (and discipline for myself!), I'll be sending completed/checked work home on Thursday nights. This will prevent paper from being all over the place, let you know when to expect the work, and keep me on top of the grading! :) Please check these over each night and return the folders on Fridays for the following week!

I'm going to attempt to update our blog more regularly than I have this week. Obviously it's been a little bit of a unique week with Dr. Smith's news, it being the first week of school and all. Since the students have not been given agendas or planners, I am still trying to figure out the best way for communicating homework, news, and events. Not sure if this will be it or something else. If you have a preference, please let me know!

Hopefully you've heard about our daily 3-Clip System! So far it's going great. Students are being wonderful examples of respect for each other! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about this system, don't hesitate to contact me!

See you tomorrow for the first Friday of the school year!

Ms. Wacek
