I hope you all enjoyed your three-day weekend! Mine was very relaxing, but went so quickly! I was able to get all planned for this upcoming week and I think it's going to be a good one!
We're starting a new unit in Science on Birds, which I'm looking forward to. The plan is to have the students make Recycled Bird Feeders on Thursday when we go up to the apartments. In order for this to happen, I'll be asking each student to bring in a recycled material that they think would make a good bird-feeder (ex: milk carton, paper towel roll, soda can, etc. Whatever they can think of should work!). I figured I'd put it up here, though, just so you have an idea what they're talking about! :)
In Math, we'll be splitting the students to focus on different objectives. A few of them will come with me and work on skip counting, odd and even numbers, and place value. The rest will go with Mrs. Wiesner to master their numbers and counting! Those 3s and 5s are tricky, make sure you're all practicing at home!
The focus for Language Arts in 1st/2nd grade this week is Sequencing and Verbs. We'll also be looking at the "short i" sound and sh,wh digraphs. The Kindergarteners will continue learning their letters, letter sounds, and basic words!
In Bible, we'll be learning the story of Hannah and Baby Samuel. Our focus is on God's promises to us, our promises to others, and that we're not too young to follow God's will. Our memory verse for the week is 1 Samuel 1:27, "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him."
Looking forward to a great week! Thanks for your support!
